  Peridotite \Per"i*do*tite\, n. [Cf. F. p['e]ridotite.] (Min.)
     An eruptive rock characterized by the presence of chrysolite
     (peridot). It also usually contains pyroxene, enstatite,
     chromite, etc. It is often altered to serpentine.
