  Pasteurization \Pas*teur`i*za"tion\, n.
     A process devised by Pasteur for preventing or checking
     fermentation in fluids, such as wines, milk, etc., by
     exposure to a temperature of 140[deg] F., thus destroying the
     vitality of the contained microorganisms.
