  Orris \Or"ris\, n. [Prob. corrupted from It. ireos iris. See
     {Iris}.] (Bot.)
     A plant of the genus {Iris} ({Iris Florentina}); a kind of
     flower-de-luce. Its rootstock has an odor resembling that of
     violets.
