  Ophthalmoscope \Oph*thal"mo*scope\, n. [From Gr. 'ofqalmo`s the
     eye + -scope.] (Physiol.)
     An instrument for viewing the interior of the eye,
     particularly the retina. Light is thrown into the eye by a
     mirror (usually concave) and the interior is then examined
