  Odontoblast \O*don"to*blast\, n. [Odonto- + -blast.]

     1. (Anat.) One of the more or less columnar cells on the
        outer surface of the pulp of a tooth; an odontoplast. They
        are supposed to be connected with the formation of
        dentine.
