  Nitrosyl \Ni*tro"syl\, n. [Nitroso- + -yl.] (Chem.)
     The radical {-NO}, called also the {nitroso group}. The term
     is sometimes loosely used to designate certain nitro
     compounds; as, nitrosyl sulphuric acid. Used also
     adjectively.
