  Monotropa \Mo*not"ro*pa\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. mo`nos single + ?
     turn, from ? to turn.] (Bot.)
     A genus of parasitic or saprophytic plants including the
     Indian pipe and pine sap. The name alludes to the dropping
     end of the stem.
