  Mithridate \Mith"ri*date\, n. (Med.)
     An antidote against poison, or a composition in form of an
     electuary, supposed to serve either as a remedy or a
     preservative against poison; an alexipharmic; -- so called
     from King Mithridates, its reputed inventor.
