  Matador \Mat"a*dor\, Matadore \Mat"a*dore\, n. [Sp. matador,
     prop., a killer, fr. matar to kill, L. mactare to sacrifice,
     kill.]
     1. The killer; the man appointed to kill the bull in
        bullfights; a bullfighter; a toreador.
