     A large American pike ({Esox masquinongy} formerly {Esox
     nobilior}) found in the Great Lakes, and other Northern
     lakes, and in the St. Lawrence River. It is valued as a food
     fish. [Written also {maskallonge}, {maskalonge},
     {maskinonge}, {muskallonge}, {muskellonge}, and
     {muskelunjeh}.]
