[Skr. mah[=a]bh[=a]rata.] (Hinduism)
A celebrated sacred epic poem of the Hindus, written in
Sanskrit. It is of great length, and is chiefly devoted to a
history, in many episodes, of a civil war between two
dynasties of ancient India.
