  Macacus \Ma*ca"cus\, n. [NL., a word of African origin. Cf.
     {Macaco}, {Macaque}.] (Zool.)
     A genus of monkeys, found in Asia and the East Indies, now
     usually called {Macaca}. They have short tails and prominent
     eyebrows. See also {Macaca}.
