  Loquat \Lo"quat\, n. [Chinese name.] (Bot.)
     The fruit of the Japanese medlar ({Photinia Japonica}). It is
     as large as a small plum, but grows in clusters, and contains
     four or five large seeds. Also, the tree itself.
