  Kurd \Kurd\, prop. n.
     A member of a people who inhabit a mountainous region of
     Western Asia, sometimes referred to as Kurdistan, spread over
     an area including adjoining parts of Turkey, Iran, Iraq,
     Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Syria. The people of this region
     speak Kurdish and are mostly Moslem. [Written also {Koord}.]
