  Keratose \Ker"a*tose`\, n. [Gr. ke`ras, -atos, horn.] (Physiol.
     Chem.)
     A tough, horny animal substance entering into the composition
     of the skeleton of sponges, and other invertebrates; --
     called also {keratode}.
