  John \John\ (j[o^]n), n. [See {Johannes}.]
     A proper name of a man.

     {John-apple}, a sort of apple ripe about St. John's Day. Same
        as {Apple-john}.

        characteristics of an Englishman, or of the English

        Peter's fish}.
