  Jambolana \Jam`bo*la"na\, n. [Cf. Pg. jambol[~a]o a kind of
     tropical fruit.] (Bot.)
     A myrtaceous tree of the West Indies and tropical America
     ({Calyptranthes Jambolana}), with astringent bark, used for
     dyeing. It bears an edible fruit.
