  Itaconic \It`a*con"ic\, a. [From aconitic, by transposition of
     the letters.] (Chem.)
     Pertaining to, or designating, an acid, {C5H6O4}, which is
     obtained as a white crystalline substance by decomposing
     aconitic and other organic acids.
