  Impale \Im*pale"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Impaled}; p. pr. & vb.
     n. {Impaling}.] [See 2d {Empale}.]
     1. To pierce with a pale; to put to death by fixing on a
        sharp stake. See {Empale}.
