     1. The doctrine that immaterial substances or spiritual being
        exist, or are possible.

        to mind and ideas in a mind; any doctrine opposed to
        materialism or phenomenalism, esp. a system that maintains
        the immateriality of the soul; idealism; esp., Bishop
