  Homoptera \Ho*mop"te*ra\, n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. ? the same, like
     + ? wing.] (Zool.)
     A suborder of Hemiptera, in which both pairs of wings are
     similar in texture, and do not overlap when folded, as in the
     cicada. See {Hemiptera}.
