  Holm \Holm\ (h[=o]m; 277), n. [OE., prob. from AS. holen holly;
     as the holly is also called holm. See {Holly}.] (Bot.)
     A common evergreen oak, of Europe ({Quercus Ilex}); -- called
     also {ilex}, and {holly}.
