     & vb. n. {Granting}.] [OE. graunten, granten, OF. graanter,
     craanter, creanter, to promise, yield, LL. creantare to
     promise, assure, for (assumed LL.) credentare to make
     believe, fr. L. credens, p. pr. of credere to believe. See
     {Creed}, {Credit}.]
