  Goaf \Goaf\; n.; pl. {Goafs}or {Goaves}. [Cf. 1st {Gob}.]
     (Mining)
     That part of a mine from which the mineral has been partially
     or wholly removed; the waste left in old workings; -- called
     also {gob} .
