  Gemmation \Gem*ma"tion\, n. [Cf. F. gemmation.]

     1. (Biol.) The formation of a new individual, either animal
        or vegetable, by a process of budding; an asexual method
        of reproduction; gemmulation; gemmiparity. See {Budding}.
