  Gaucho \Gau"cho\ (gou"ch[-o]), n., pl. {Gauchos} (gou"ch[-o]z)
     [Sp.]
     One of the native inhabitants of the South American pampas,
     of Spanish-American descent. They live mostly by rearing
     cattle. Hence, a South American cowboy, especially on the
     pampas.
