     vb. n. {Espousing}.] [OF. espouser, esposer, F. ['e]pouser,
     L. sponsare to betroth, espouse, fr. sponsus betrothed, p. p.
     of spondere to promise solemnly or sacredly. Cf. {Spouse}.]
