  Erotesis \Er`o*te"sis\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? a questioning, fr. ?
     to ask.] (Rhet.)
     A figure of speech by which a strong affirmation of the
     contrary, is implied under the form of an earnest
     interrogation, as in the following lines;
