     p. pr. & vb. n. {Emancipating}.] [L. emancipatus, p. p. of
     emancipare to emancipate; e + mancipare to transfer ownership
     in, fr. manceps purchaser, as being one who laid his hand on
     the thing bought; manus hand + capere to take. See {Manual},
     and {Capable}.]
