  Elephantiasis \El`e*phan*ti"a*sis\, n. [L., fr. Gr. ?, from
     'ele`fas, 'ele`fantos, an elephant.] (Med.)
     A disease of the skin, in which it become enormously
     thickened, and is rough, hard, and fissured, like an
     elephant's hide.
