  Dictum \Dic"tum\, n.; pl. L. {Dicta}, E. {Dictums}. [L., neuter
     of dictus, p. p. of dicere to say. See {Diction}, and cf.
     {Ditto}.]
     1. An authoritative statement; a dogmatic saying; an
        apothegm.
