     diatonicus, diatonus, Gr. ?, ?, fr. ? to stretch out; dia`
     through + ? to stretch: cf. F. diatonique. See {Tone}.]
     (Mus.)
     Pertaining to the scale of eight tones, the eighth of which
     is the octave of the first.
