  Descriptive \De*scrip"tive\, a. [L. descriptivus: cf. F.
     descriptif.]
     Tending to describe; having the quality of representing;
     containing description; as, a descriptive figure; a
     descriptive phrase; a descriptive narration; a story
     descriptive of the age.
