     (d[e^]n"t[asl]*t[e^]d), a. [L. dentatus, fr. dens, dentis,
     tooth.]
     1. (Bot.) Toothed; especially, with the teeth projecting
        straight out, not pointed either forward or backward; as,
        a dentate leaf.
