  Dasymeter \Da*sym"e*ter\, n. [Gr. dasy`s rough, thick + -meter.]
     (Physics)
     An instrument for testing the density of gases, consisting of
     a thin glass globe, which is weighed in the gas or gases, and
     then in an atmosphere of known density.
