  Dakotas \Da*ko"tas\, n. pl.; sing. {Dacota}. (Ethnol.)
     An extensive race or stock of Indians, including many tribes,
     mostly dwelling west of the Mississippi River; -- also, in
     part, called {Sioux}. [Written also {Dacotahs}.]
