  Crescent \Cres"cent\ (kr[e^]s"sent), n. [OE. cressent,
     cressaunt, crescent (in sense 1), OF. creissant increasing,
     F. croissant, p. pr. of cro[^i]tre, OF. creistre, fr. L.
     crescere to increase, v. incho.; akin to creare to create.
