  Contumacy \Con"tu*ma*cy\ (k[o^]n"t[-u]*m[.a]*s[y^]), n.; pl.
     {Contumacies} (k[o^]n"t[-u]*m[.a]*s[i^]z). [L. contumacia,
     fr. contumax, -acis, insolent; prob. akin to contemnere to
     despise: cf. F. contumace. Cf. {Contemn}.]

        authority.
