  Commend \Com*mend"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Commended}; p. pr. &
     vb. n. {Commending}.] [L. commendare; com- + mandare to
     intrust to one's charge, enjoin, command. Cf. {Command},
     {Mandate}.]
     1. To commit, intrust, or give in charge for care or
        preservation.
