  Clandestine \Clan*des"tine\, a. [L. clandestinus, fr. clam
     secretly; akin to celare, E. conceal: cf. F. clandestin.]
     Conducted with secrecy; withdrawn from public notice, usually
     for an evil purpose; kept secret; hidden; private; underhand;
     as, a clandestine marriage. --Locke.
