  Cavy \Ca"vy\, n.; pl. {Cavies}. [NL. cavia, fr. Brazilian
     cabiai: cf. F. cabiai.] (Zool.)
     A rodent of the genera {Cavia} and {Dolichotis}, as the
     guinea pig ({Cavia cobaya}). Cavies are natives of South
     America.
