  Cautery \Cau"ter*y\, n.; pl. {Cauteries}. [L. cauterium, Gr. ?.
     See {Cauter}.]
     1. (Med.) A burning or searing, as of morbid flesh, with a
        hot iron, or by application of a caustic that will burn,
        corrode, or destroy animal tissue.
