F. calorim[`e]tre.]
1. (Physiol.) An apparatus for measuring the amount of heat
contained in bodies or developed by some mechanical or
chemical process, as friction, chemical combination,
combustion, etc. For combustion processes, a {bomb
calorimeter} may be used.
