     1. (Bot.) A plant having twigs suitable for making brooms to
        sweep with when bound together; esp., the {Cytisus
        scoparius} of Western Europe, which is a low shrub with


        long, straight, green, angular branches, minute leaves,
        and large yellow flowers.
