  Pallas \Pal"las\ (p[a^]l"las), prop. n. [L., fr. Gr. Palla`s,
     Palla`dos.] (Gr. Myth.)
     Pallas Athena, the Grecian goddess of wisdom, called also
     {Athena}, {Pallas Athene} or {Athene}, and identified, at a
     later period, with the Roman Minerva.
