     fr. Gr. ?; 'a priv. + ? to throb, beat.] (Med.)
     Apparent death, or suspended animation; the condition which
     results from interruption of respiration, as in suffocation
     or drowning, or the inhalation of poisonous or irrespirable
     gases.
