  Anomia \A*no"mi*a\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? irregular; 'a priv. +
     no'mos law.] (Zool.)
     A genus of bivalve shells, allied to the oyster, so called
     from their unequal valves, of which the lower is perforated
     for attachment.
