  Alpaca \Al*pac"a\, n. [Sp. alpaca, fr. the original Peruvian
     name of the animal. Cf. {Paco}.]
     1. (Zool.) An animal of Peru ({Lama paco}), having long,
        fine, wooly hair, supposed by some to be a domesticated
        variety of the llama.
