     Sp. & Pg. almadia), fr. Ar. alma'd[imac]yah a raft, float.]
     (Naut.)
     (a) A bark canoe used by the Africans.
     (b) A boat used at Calicut, in India, about eighty feet long,
         and six or seven broad.
