     agouti, acouti, Sp. aguti, fr. native name.] (Zool.)
     1. A rodent of the genus {Dasyprocta}, about the size of a
        rabbit, peculiar to South America and the West Indies. The
        most common species is the {Dasyprocta agouti}.
